Flykidz Gymnastics, Petaling Jaya
If you are looking for an active kids activity in Petaling Jaya, gymnastics offers a way to practise movement, balance and new skills. Flykidz in Seksyen 13 has programmes for toddlers through older children, with activities adapted to each group. Here are five aspects of gymnastics that parents may value, from guided movement for toddlers to skill practice for older children at our Petaling Jaya studio.
01.
Builds Full-Body Strength From Day One
Gymnastics classes use varied movements that ask children to balance, support their weight and coordinate different parts of the body. Activities range from toddler movement play to age-appropriate recreational skills, and coaches adjust them to each group.
Gymnastics gives children opportunities to practise coordination, strength and body control over time. Each child progresses at their own pace, with activities matched to their age and experience.
02.
Builds Confidence Skill by Skill
Confidence built in a gymnastics gym in Petaling Jaya is different from confidence that comes from being praised. It comes from evidence, from doing something that was impossible last week and making it routine this week.
At Flykidz in Seksyen 13, children can work toward concrete movement goals, such as a more controlled roll or a steadier balance. Recognising progress can help a child feel more comfortable trying the next skill.
03.
Practises Focus and Movement Sequences
Learning a movement sequence asks children to pay attention to body position, timing and the coach's instructions. Gymnastics provides a practical setting to practise those skills, though individual outcomes vary.
A class can include listening, remembering steps and adjusting a movement after feedback. These are useful parts of learning a new sport, and every child experiences them differently.
04.
Teaches Discipline Without Pressure
Every Flykidz class in PJ runs on clear, consistent structure: listen when the coach speaks, wait your turn, respect the shared space, and try again when something does not work the first time. Children follow these expectations because the activity rewards consistent effort, not because they are forced.
Classes give children chances to practise listening, waiting their turn and trying again. Progress differs between children, and parents can ask the coaches about their child's experience in class.
05.
Helps Children Try New Skills
There is a specific kind of fear in gymnastics: the moment before a child tries something their body has never done. Our coaches at Flykidz PJ work with that fear deliberately. Every skill is broken into staged progressions with safe steps, proper matting and hands-on spotting until the child can go alone.
With encouragement and a suitable progression, children can try a new movement one step at a time. Coaches can explain how they support each child and when a skill is appropriate to attempt.
